A superlative is a term used to describe the highest degree of comparison. It is used when we want to express something that is the most or the best of its kind. For instance, “the tallest building in the world” is a superlative because it describes a building that is the highest of all buildings in the world.
Degrees of Comparison are applicable only to Adverbs and Adjectives. Degrees of Comparison add variations to the sentences. A most familiar example of degrees i.e. good < better < best.
